Coke Studio Concert Electrifies UNIPORT

... as Patoranking, Tekno, Selebobo and Jumabee deliver thrilling performances
Excitement reached a crescendo at UNIPORT on Friday, October 24, 2014 as the long awaited Coke Studio season two campus concerts swept into the campus with A-list Nigerian artistes.

Thousands of students thronged the Abuja car park at UNIPORT despite the scorching sun, to witness thrilling live performances by dancehall virtuoso Patoranking; MMMG crew members Tekno and Selebobo and local favorite Jumabee.

Brand Manager, Colas, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Olufemi Ashipa, who also doubles as the Project Manager, Coke Studio Concerts shared the excitement and passion of the campus community, noting that the Coke Studio Concert was created to bring about a fusion of different music genres and styles, while giving aspiring musicians the chance of a lifetime to perform alongside established stars.

"We are aware that Port Harcourt has a lot of amazing musical talents, so we decided to route our musical concert platform here to bring established and upcoming artistes together on stage to create amazing music," Ashipa commented.

"The Coke Studio bus, which is fitted with top-notch recording equipment will also prepare the aspiring artistes for the demands of the continually evolving music industry," he added.

In the spirit of the Coke Studio Concerts, the show at UNIPORT commenced with a competition to select two upcoming artistes from the institution to perform on stage  with the stars.
Twenty-six year old 200 level student of Theatre Arts, Israel Ighofose, got the opportunity of a lifetime to perform with Tekno; while Suni Eke, a twenty-four year old, 200 level student of Religious and Cultural Studies, got a chance to wow the crowd with A-list artiste, Patoranking.

Selebobo kicked things up a notch as the concert got into full swing, with his popular tracks including “Selfie” and “Oroma Baby”. Tekno kept up the pace  with his charm and his line-up of songs such as “Dance” and “Holiday,” while  Patoranking brought the concert to a hip- twirling  climax with “Murda”, “Emergency”, and of course, his hit  “Girlie O”.
A platform showcasing entertaining duets from established and upcoming musical talents, the Coke Studio Concerts, an innovative addition to the Coke Studio music show, kicked off in September and has toured major campuses in Nigeria including Lagos State Polytechnic, University of Benin, Abia State University, University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife before the outing at the University of Port Harcourt.

The Coke Studio Concert is scheduled to tour seven more tertiary institutions in 2014. Next in line is the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) on October 31.
