The oriental
city of Owerri, Imo State, will today be treated to an evening of fun and total
entertainment as Globacom’s wave making student music concert, the Glo Campus Storm, comes up at the
Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.
The event had
earlier been held in the south-south and south-east cities of Port Harcourt and
Enugu before berthing in Imo state where the students in and around Nekede are
eagerly waiting to enjoy every bit of the star-studded show.
Majority of
the students of the institution in Nekede are already in party mood and raring
to enjoy the evening especially as the campus hardly hosts such shows.
Speaking
on the concert, an ND II student of the school, Samson Onuoha, said: “We are
seriously waiting for the show. Music concerts of this magnitude rarely happen
in this school. I’m sure students from other institutions around like FUTO
(Federal University of Technology, Owerri, will also attend the show."
Globacom has
lined up top artistes to entertain the crowd at the event and they
include Megbele crooner, Omawumi, African rapper number 1, MI,
and Victoria Kimani, the queen of Chocolate City music family. DJ XGEE
will delight the students with vibes from the jukebox, while popular stand-up
comedian, Gordons, will anchor the show.
To be admitted into the venue for the concert,
Globacom advise students to recharge their Glo lines with N500 campus data
plan.
A statement
from Globacom stated that the ongoing Glo Campus Storm further
demonstrates the company’s unwavering support for Nigerian students. The
statement added: “We have built a very good relationship with them over time
and regularly, we entertain them with the best of Nigerian artistes, knowing
their love for music. The Glo Campus Storm concert is an entertainment show
designed to reward students nationwide and give them the opportunity of winning
mouth-watering prizes and becoming Glo Campus ambassadors”,
Globacom
stated further that “a competition will be held at the Federal Polytechnic
during the show to select 10 Glo Campus Ambassadors, made up of 5 males
and 5 females. Two of them who will emerge ‘Glo Data Dude’ and ‘Glo Data Diva’
will each go home with N100,000”.
The ten
winners, according to Globacom, will join 220 other winners from the remaining
institutions to compete for the position of Glo ambassadors at the grand
finale. The winners in the male and female categories will also win a
star prize of N1million.
They will
also be entitled to special invitations to attend top Glo events like Glo Slide
'n' Bounce concerts, Glo Laffta Fest and Glo-CAF Awards.
