Telecommunications
giant, Globacom recently fulfilled its promise to its subscribers as a new set
of winners emerged in its social media talent competition tagged GLOIN60SECONDS.
The company disclosed in
a statement released from its head office in Lagos that prizes were presented
to all the six winners at selected Globacom’s sales and customer service
outlets, Gloworld shops in different parts of the country.
In Lagos, Doyinsola Hazfeezah Salau, a law
student of University of Lagos and a medical student at the same University, Ngini Chinazom received their prizes
at Gloworld shop, Ikeja City Mall and at Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere respectively as both enthused
for emerging winners out of millions of prospective customers who uploaded
their videos.
“I am happy and very
delighted to receive the prize,” said Doyinsola, while a highly ecstatic,
Chinazom commended Globacom for empowering the youth through the competition.
“I thank Globacom for this opportunity; I will continue to post more videos
until the end of the competition. I might be lucky a second time,” Chinazom
said.
A Material and
Metallurgical Engineering student of Federal University of Technology, Owerri,
Onyekachi Madubuike who collected his cheque in the company’s Abuja office
expressed appreciation to Globacom for what he described as his “New Year
present”.
Other winners who visited various Gloworld outlets for their
prizes include Ayoade Daniel Olaide who received his prize in Ibadan.
He said his own cash winning would
assist him to complete his tuition fees at LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The duo of
Chinaza Ezeani and Echikodili Patience Okonkwo got theirs in Enugu.
GLOIN60SECONDS expects subscribers to register, record
and upload a one-minute video of themselves showcasing their talents in music,
dance, comedy, poetry or any other creative ability on their social media
accounts on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and hashtag #GLOIN60SECONDS.
They are expected to
subsequently follow Glo on any of the company’s social media pages @Globacomlimited on Instagram,@Gloworld on Twitter and Gloworld on Facebook.
The network will then
pick seven contestants with the highest video likes to win N50, 000 each every
week in the challenge which runs between December 10, 2018 and February 3,
2019. A total of 56 winners will emerge while a grand prize of 1 million naira
will be won by the overall winner at the grand finale with N200, 000 consolation
prizes going to 5 runners-up.
