Ijebu-Ode hosts 2019 Glo-sponsored Adetona Professorial Chair lecture

The ancient city of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, will on Friday, May 9, 2019, host the third edition of  Glo-sponsored Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Professorial Chair in Governance lecture.

Scheduled for Adeola Odutola Hall, Ijebu Ode, the event kicks- off at 11 a.m.

In a statement in Lagos, national telecommunications company, Globacom, disclosed that this year’s lecture which would be delivered by the Professorial Chair, a renowned political scientist and media scholar, Professor Ayodele Olukotun, is entitled “Grassroots Governance: The soft underbelly of Nigeria’s political architecture”.

Also, the event will feature a panel comprising Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, Young Progressive Party’s Presidential candidate at the last election, and Prof. Remi Sonaiya, the only female presidential candidate in the 2015 election. They will review and share their perspectives on the topic of the lecture.

Instituted at the Department of Political Science, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ijebu Ode, the Oba Sikiru Adetona Professorial Chair on Good Governance promotes theexpansion of the frontiers of knowledge and generation of ideas for Nigeria’s development.

In support of the objectives of the Oba Sikiru Adetona Professorial Chair on Good Governance, Globacom Chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr., donated the sum of N20 million to the center in 2018.

The event is expected to be graced by eminent Nigerians, members of the academic community, top government officials, royal fathers and captains of industry.
