EFCC Arrests Five Suspects for Internet Fraud



A social media influencer, Adedamola Adewale and four others have been arrested by the Economic Crimes and Financial Commission for their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud.

EFCC reported this in a tweet and also mentioned that the five suspects have been arrested at different areas of Lagos.

EFCC reports that "While Adewale, 20, and his accomplice, Lamina Hamzat Ajibola, were arrested at the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos State, the trio of Israel Onyebuchi, Emmanuel Olayode and Valentine Nwokorie were picked up at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State."



The Commission also mentioned that the social media influencer, Adedamola Adewale who goes by the IG handle @adeherself has confessed to the crime of posing as a lady with the intent to deceive her foreign prey.

The tweet also mentioned the items recovered from the suspects, one of which was the sum of N9,000,000 (Nine Million Naira) which was found in Adewale's account. EFCC's investigations has also revealed that Nwokorie, one of the male suspects was posing as a female.

American citizen and sending photos as a porn star to defraud his victim while  Onyebuchi, another male suspect was engaging  in a love scam as well as forging foreign cheques.
