The authorities of the University of Port Harcourt on Wednesday directed that the school be reopened immediately for normal academic activities
Dr Williams Wodi, a spokesman for the
university, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Senate of the
university met on Wednesday and directed that it should be reopened.
“The resumption was sequel to the
return of peace to the university’s neighbourhood, especially Omuokiri in
Aluu,’’ he said.
Wodi said that the vice-chancellor had
met with the landlords at Aluu who guaranteed the safety of students and staff.
He said that all students had been
directed to return to the campus between Wednesday and weekend.
He also said that lectures would
commence on Nov. 12.
NAN reports that the school was closed
in October over the killing of four of students by vigilance group in Aluu on
Oct. 5.
