Nigeria’s Fifth Mobile Operator Ntel Commences Operations, Promises Free Calls for Life



ntel, the rebranded version of the defunct Nigeria’s Telecommunication PLC (NITEL) and Mtel, has announced the commencement of commercial operations in Abuja and Lagos and subsequently to other states, across multiple geo-political zones, during the second half of 2016; making it Nigeria’s fifth GSM network operator. On its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) advanced network comes interesting bumper-packed offers for all pioneer subscribers and data users.
In a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer, Ntel Mr. Kumar Abass, during a press briefing held in Lagos last week, expressed delight as he formally announced the commercial birth of ntel and their mouth watering services and market edge “I am delighted to be writing to you, on behalf of the staff and directors of NatCom, with the news that, today, April 8, 2016, we start commercial activities on our newly commissioned 4G/LTE-Advanced network. Our very earliest customers will be able to buy and use these services in clusters, across Lagos and Abuja from sales outlets and agents featuring our bright new brand name: ntel,”

The Company promises the first 100,000 people to redeem and activate their ntel SIMs will get free on-net calls for life while data subscribers will get 3 months unlimited data usage on select bundles, as part of the roll-out process.

Mr. Abass added that the company’s 4G/LTE-Advanced technology built on the 900/1800 MHz spectrum would deliver unbeatable and game changing customer experience of high-speed internet access up to 230Mbps. He said that the access was the fastest available in Nigeria and it would enable a world of full mobile broadband experience that would transform both lives and livelihood.
Adding that the 800 sites bought from Mtel and NITEL would serve for coverage area but that there was also room for collocation.
The CEO also promises high-speed Internet access of up to 230Mbps, the fastest available in Nigeria on the ntel 4G LTE offer. He listed the features as; high speed broadband, high definition crystal clear voice, high quality video without buffering, a chance to be one of the pioneers’ club member and device financing.
He added that a point of sale device known as “Kuchio” would perform the full range of sales and support activities, and that it will push telephoning deeper into the rural area. “ntel’s business capabilities are focused on addressing the emerging data ongoing migration from 2G to 3G and 4G. In 4G world, congestion is better managed,” he said.
Abass also listed some mobile phones which support the 4G as Tecno C5, Samsung S6 Edge, Konka L5 70S(R1)(R2)(E1), Phantom 5, Infinix Zero 3, Infinix Note 2 among others.
