prizes
The Mike Adenuga Tower, Lagos head office of next
generation network, Globacom, was agog on Tuesday as the
first set of winners in the on-going Glo Hamma Millions promo, received
their cash prizes. They included the winner of the jackpot prize of N5
million.
The excited winners arrived the venue of the
presentation ceremony with their friends and relatives as early as 8am, brimming
with enthusiasm to claim their cash prizes.
Hameed Olatunji who won N5 million cheque was ecstatic as
he received his cheque, while others who won N100,000 each in the promo
also got their prizes at the Lagos centre. Scores of winners also
received their N100,000 prizes simultaneously in Abuja, Enugu, Benin and Port
Harcourt.
Olatunji, in an emotion laden voice, expressed
appreciation to Globacom for making him a multi-millionaire overnight.
Asked what his plan for the money was, he said, “I’ll invest
part of this money in my poultry business and also use part of it to purchase a
truck”.
Dignitaries including the Speaker, Ogun State House
of Assembly, Suraju Adekunbi; Deputy Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly,
Hon Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni; Acting Managing Director of Bank of Industry, Mr. Waheed Olagunju, Lagos State Coordinator of the National Lottery Regulatory
Commission, Mr. Fidelis Ajibogun, and the Zonal Coordinator, Lagos Office,
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Mr Ikechukwu Aninweke, witnessed the
ceremony.
Globacom’s Executive Director, Legal Services, Mrs. Gladys
Talabi, enthused that the promo was an initiative to reward the company's
subscribers for keeping faith with the network. “The reward scheme
was launched by Globacom despite the current economic challenges to
appreciate our customers who are the focal point of our
operations by making over one thousand of them richer and turning others into
multimillionaires,” she said
She further explained that more winners would emerge in the days
ahead, and enjoined existing and new subscribers to avail themselves of
the opportunity to become millionaires in the promo by sending ‘GLO’ to 555 and
answering a simple football question.
The Acting Managing Director, Bank of Industry, Mr. Waheed
Olagunju, eulogised Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr, for
building a world class telecoms company like Globacom which he noted ''could
compete with any telecoms company in the world''.
According to him, “Adenuga is one person who connects with
people at the bottom pyramid and that is why we are here to identify with this.
Those of you who won N100,000, that could be the beginning of your journey to
becoming a Mike Adenuga of tomorrow. We at BOI are available to support
you and hold your hand. We have our consultants and experts who will advise you
on the type of business you can go into in your immediate
environment."
Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Adekunmbi,
said, "Globacom has done a lot for Nigerians. It liberated Nigerians
with the per second billing it introduced at inception."
The Glo Hamma Millions promo is designed to
last for 100 days and will generate 10 winners of N100,000 every day, while a
N5million jackpot winner will emerge once every 20 days. A total of 1000
lucky winners of N100,000 and 5 winners of N5million are expected to emerge in
the promo.
A total of 201 winners collected their prizes in the
five locations on Tuesday.
