The Benue State capital, Makurdi, is warming up to host some of
the biggest humour merchants in the country at the city’s edition of Globacom’s
blockbuster comedy show, Glo Laffta Fest.
The concert is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday at
the Royal Choice Inn in the city centre. It will be the 26th edition
of the show which kicked off in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on April 16.
All the shows have been hugely successful with rib-cracking performances by
heavyweights in the comedy industry such as Basketmouth, Salvador from Uganda,
Bovi Ugboma, I Go Dye and Acapella. Others who have also thrilled at the shows
are Dan D’Humorous, Seyi Law, De Don, Bash, Senator, Still Ringing and Kenny
Blaq.
According to a press statement issued by Globacom on Thursday,
the residents of Makurdi and neighbouring communities are assured of a highly
memorable evening of fun at the concert. To pep up the event, Nollywood’s
delectable pair of Uche Jombo and Ebube Nwagbo will serve as anchors, while
Kanayo O. Kanayo of the Professor Johnbull TV
series fame will be the celebrity guest.
“This massive comedy show is on the final lap now, having
traversed the length and breadth of this great country in the last 25 weeks.
The show has continued to evolve every week since the first edition. In
essence, the people of Makurdi will be getting on Sunday the very
best of comedy they will ever find on a single stage. Our subscribers and
prospective subscribers are invited to partake in this unforgettable comedy
fiesta”, Globacom said in the statement.
Re-echoing Globacom’s promise of fun for guests at the Makurdi
event is Francis Agoda, popularly known as I Go Dye, who declared that he was
ready to give Makurdi residents the best of his jokes on Sunday.
“I want to appeal to the good people of Makurdi not to miss out on
the fun of Glo Laffta Fest this Sunday. It is
going to be the best evening they have ever had! Take it to the bank”, said I
Go Dye.
Another comedian scheduled to perform at the event, Gordons, also
stated, “I am super excited to be on Glo Laffta Fest stage in Makurdi on
Sunday. I’m all revved up to unleash the fun. Don’t be left behind. Come and
have the fun of your life”.
To attend the Makurdi show, Glo subscribers who have used up to
N2,000 credit in the last one month are required to text ‘LOL’ with the
location name to the short code 240; for example, "LOL Makurdi” to 240.
Subscribers who do not meet this criterion but who wish to attend the show can
come to the venue to purchase airtime worth N2,000 which will entitle
