Starting from this week's Tuesday, lovers of the
didactic TV Drama Series, Professor
Johnbull, sponsored by telecoms firm, Globacom, will have
another opportunity to augment their experience of life as broadcast of Season
5 of the series begins on NTA Network, NTA International on DSTV Channel 251
and NTA on StarTimes at 8.30 p.m.
In the first episode of the new season entitled Running to the City, Nollywood
pearls, Osita Iheme, a.k.a. Pawpaw, and Angela Okorie, join the star-studded cast of the
sitcom led by the bombastic Professor Johnbull, acted by the doyen of Nollywood,
Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK).
The stars are filling the lacuna created by the absence
of Professor Johnbull's son, Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo), who is currently
in the United States of America to further his education and the former house
maid, Caroline (Mercy Johnson-Okojie), who is unavoidably absent due to family
exigencies.
Also in the new Season, Professor Johnbull’s daughter, Elizabeth (Queen Nwokoye), who had undergone
a successful medical treatment abroad, stages a powerful comeback to the Series
as she mentors the debutants, Nje (Angela Okorie), a village
Cameroonian girl, who grew up in the professor's country home, and Jeroboam, a.k.a Boam (Osita Iheme), who is reputed to have
tendered the scholar's father's herd back in the village.
Running to the City reveals the
compassionate side of Professor Johnbull, who rescued Nje from her pariah
status some years back when she was punished for improper pregnancy in the
village.
The hospitality of the entire Professor
Johnbull household is evident in the new episode as the
new family members (Nje and Jeroboam) are welcomed with warmth and integrated into
the family. Every attempt by the gateman,
Abadnego (Martins Nebo), to
prevent Nje and Jeroboam from gaining access to Professor Johnbull was rebuffed
by the scholar who calls the duo "my people".
One of the twists awaiting
viewers in the new episode is the 360-degree turn made by the restauranteur,
Olaniyi (Yomi Fash-Lanso), in professing love to Nje on the ground of
complexion compatibility. Expectedly, his arch rival, Mai Doya (Funky Mallam),
wastes no time in reminding Olaniyi of his love for Caro and queries why he
must love every girl in Professor Johnbull's house. Viewers should not miss the episode to
discover how the love triangle pans out.
A repeat broadcast of Running to the City will be aired on Friday at 8.30.pm on the aforementioned
channels.
