Unveiling Kevin Tita

Philemon Chukwuka Okezie other wise known as Kevin Tita is an award winning Nigerian rising rapper who is currently based in Cyprus. He is originally from Abia State, Nigeria but was born and raised in Kaduna.

Kevin Tita started chasing a career in music after he joined CrossBlinkz (an under grounfd music group in Kaduna). The group was made up of Kevin, his younger brother Sean and a cousin, Rotex. They released their first and only official single 'Halle Berry' which help them build a relatively strong underground following before they disbanded in 2010. After the group broke up, Kevin Tita continued to chase a solo career by releasing songs and mixtape which were independently promoted through his online social media pages.

In 2011, Kevin Tita was discovered by UK based Nigeria's number one female disk jockey, DJ Babylynn through Facebook and afterwards she became his manager and he got signed to Babylynn Entertainment. Under his new management, Kevin Tita released 2 singles in 2012 name, 'Ahead of My Game' featuring Tizze and 'Follow Me Baby' which both gained massive rotations on radio stations across Nigeria and in the UK. The same year, he won the award for Best Male Rapper in Northern Nigeria at the GWE Awards 2014 and became the first artist to feature on the cover of XtraTime Magazine (a popular entertainment and lifestyle magazine in Northern Nigeria). The song 'Follow Me Baby' later on started gaining massive airplay in clubs around Northern/Middle belt Nigeria around October 2012 into last 2013.

In February, 2013, just when his career was getting set to take off on a nationwide level, Kevin Tita relocated to Cyprus to pursue a degree in Management Information System at the Eastern Mediterranean University. Still under  his management with DJ Babylynn, Kevin Tita's next single titled 'Looki Looki' was released in March, 2013 and a subsequent re-release of his single 'Ahead Of My Game' and 'Follow Me Baby' followed next. These three songs helped Kevin Tita gain massive popularity in the Afrobeats music scene in Cyprus and due to the hype surrounding Kevin Tita as an artist to watch out for, he took home the award for Most Promising Artist in the ANAN Awards 2013 ( an annual awards ceremony that recognizes Nigerian entertainment personalities who are making waves in Cyprus.

In February, 2014 Kevin Tita's next single titled 'Grass To Grace' was released by Babylynn Entertainment, this song has gone to become his most successful song to date. The song trended on Twitter in Nigeria, was featured on over 300 music blogs and websites across the web and has raked in abover 10,000 downloads to date. 'Grass To Grace' went on to win the award for Song Of The Year at the ASGA Awards 2014. As the song continued to grow and spread on the internet, Kevin Titwa was interviewd on Naija 101.1 FM in the UK by DJ Babylynn in an interview that ended with numerous listeners calling in to say how much they loved Kevin's work as an artist.

Although Kevin Tita has not released another single since 'Grass To Grace' he still went on to win the award for Best New Act at the ANAN Awards 2014. He also performed during the event ceremony. He states that the reason why he hasn't released another song since then to his fans is because he has been focused and paying more attention to his studies. According to a tweet on DJ Babylynn's twitter page recently. Kevin's next song will be produced by top Nigerian music producer, Puffy Tee ( the man behind Olumaintain's hit song 'Yahooze'). The song is yet to be titled and will be released pretty soon.
