Walk
Against Rape Campaign is a special demonstration that brings together Mothers,
Fathers, Guardians, Teachers, Youth Advocates, Social Activist , Actors,
Actresses, Sports Men, Media Practitioners, Musicians, DJs, Comedians, Youth
Organizations, Showbiz Personalities and student delegates from various higher
institutions and Secondary Schools around Lagos state to lend a voice to sexually abused persons
(particularly women and children), and also
show their support to the course of bringing an end to RAPE in Nigeria
where the number of Rape cases is on the increase.
According
to the National Coordinator, Esther Ijewere- Kalejaiye, “Our aim is to help in
encouraging victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to the
victims of sexual abuse and Rape as well as use “Walk Against Rape” as a
platform to inform the society about the soaring scourge of sexual abuse
especially as it relates to young girls and women in general. The walk will be held in Ondo, Edo, Delta and
Oyo State this year as well.

Aside
the celebrities that are attending the walk, invitations have also been sent to
Non-Government Organizations, Representatives from different Local Governments
In Lagos State, Media Practitioners, TV / Radio Presenters, Students Delegates
(From Higher Institutions), secondary school students, faith based organisation
, Corporate Social Responsibility arms of various corporate bodies and the
general public.
The
walk is slated for the 10th of March, it starts from the archbishop vining
memorial church ground and ends at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Alausa.
Walk
against Rape is organized by Rubies Ink Initiative for women and children in
partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs, since 2010.
