The
new star-studded satire on television, Professor Johnbull, sponsored by data
grand masters, Globacom, will pay attention to the phenomenon of male-child
preference in African Culture.
In
the seventh episode titled Baby Bomboi, the drama exposes the various
discriminatory acts against baby girls and the prevalent absorption with male
children in the Nigerian society.
The
drama series explores and addresses emotional and social questions like the
chances of a girl child to thrive in life, compared to the chances of her
male counterpart. Creatively and expertly weaving humour, drama with
expository dialogue, the episode will pose the question of whether the sex of a
baby determines how far the child will go in life and whether a male child is
more important in the family than the female child?
Who
is Athan, (Stan Kamandi)? How does he receive the news of the birth of his
fifth consecutive girl? What will be the reactions of Professor Johnbull
to the birth of the girl-child? And how will the erudite, verbose and
magisterial Professor Johnbull respond to the whole hullabaloo?
According
to sponsors of the program, Globacom, viewers will find out the answers to the
posers on Baby Bomboi broadcasting on Tuesday at 8.30p.m. on NTA Network, NTA International on
DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes. The repeat broadcast comes on air
on the same channels on Friday and at the same time.
