Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol Holds This Weekend: With Glo As Sponsors

In its bid to boost this year’s Yuletide season, total telecoms solutions provider, Globacom, has been announced as exclusive telecoms partner of the 2016 Akwa Ibom State Christmas Carol Festival for the second consecutive year.
Globacom  in a statement on Tuesday reminisced on last year’s edition of the event during  which award-winning artistes from all over the world including two Grammy award winners, were part of the impressive event.
Said Globacom,  “We fully identify with the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol festival which has become one of the biggest crowd-pulling events of the Yuletide season. Our desire is to follow the passion of Nigerians, and connect them with their passion.”
This year's edition of the  Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival  will feature gospel music giants from across the world including multiple award-winning international gospel artiste, Don Moen; the PRM band from the United Kingdom, The Kayamba Africa Choral Ensemble and the Kenya Boys Choir.  

Similarly, Nigeria’s top gospel acts like Sammie Okposo, Buchi, Steve Crown, Elijah Oyelade, Rev. Fr. Patrick Edet, Esther Edoho, Julius Nglass and Perfecta Ekpo will also be on hand to serenade the attendees.
Others include the Ibom Orchestra, The Ibom Brass Band and the Akwa Ibom State Government Choir, who made an excellent appearance last year will also  electrify  the live audience with their soulful renditions.
The star attraction will be the globally acclaimed 10,000-man Ibom Choir which has embossed itself into public psyche for rendering indelible and classy Christmas Carols.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, who is the Chief Host of the crowd-pulling annual event has forwarded a message of appreciation to Globacom for accepting to collaborate on the Carols event.
Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols is cited in the Guinness Book of Records. It made history in the year 2012 edition  by featuring a 9,999-member choir which has gone done in history  as the largest choir on the African  continent at that time.
 Themed “Let Our King Be Lifted High", the 2016 Carol Festival is the 9th edition of the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival and the second in the tenure of the incumbent administration in the state.

The carols are billed for to hold at the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday, 17th December, 2016. It will be broadcast live by leading broadcast channels including the DSTV  (on Africa Magic and dedicated channels), AIT, Channels TV and AKBC.
