2017 Ghana - Nigeria Sports Tournament Set To Hold In Accra-Ghana

Ghanaians and Nigerians would gather at the Azuma Nelson Sports Complex, Accra-Ghana on Saturday 28th October, 2017 from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm to compete in several games during this year’s Ghana-Nigeria Sports Tournament. The event which promises to be exciting and full of glamour is currently in its third edition.


Comrade Barry Ndu Nwaihim, the Coordinator of Ghana Nigeria Youth Organization, organizers of this great event in an interview with our reporters has confirmed the participation of so many teams from Nigeria and Ghana. According to him, the Tournament which has its theme as 'Uniting Ghanaian and Nigerian Youths Through Sports' is aimed at creating a platform for Ghanaians and Nigerians to come together in atmosphere of love and unity while showing skills in different games that would be featured on the day. He explained that it would be a 'No Victor-No Vanquished 'kind of arrangement  where citizens of the two countries can actually come together to form a team, register and participate in the

Tournament. He confirmed that Ghana's Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide would be the Guest Of Honour to kick off the final Football match. Also the Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Olufemi Abikoye is expected to join other Dignitaries that would be present in this year’s event. Comrade Barry Ndu called on corporate Organizations, patriotic individuals and everyone one who has the interest of the two nations at heart to come on board and support them to ensure a successful event. He bemoaned the lack of sponsorship in events like this that tends to unite people and expressed sadness on reasons why big companies prefer sponsoring Beauty pageants than supporting young people grow and fully express their God given vision.

Ms Serwaa Gyedu, the Secretary Of the Organization promised that all effort are being put in place to host a world class event. She explained that there is a great need to continuously do events like this as it promotes unity, peace and progressive relationship between citizens. She confirmed that many teams would be participating in Football and individuals have started indicating interest to participate in  Table Tennis, Chess and 100 meters event. She urged participating teams to train effectively so they can come out as winners.

Nancy Samuel, the Director of Protocol assured the  peace and security of every participant. She said that the participation form for football would be 200Ghc while the winning prize would be 500Ghc, Trophy with other souvenirs. The First Runner up would be receiving 300Ghc, Football and other souvenirs while people can participate in other events for free. She urged patriotic and  well meaning individuals to come out enmasse on that day to support the various teams that would be participating. She also confirmed that there would be Refreshment for Guests and Photo Sessions with the celebrities that would be passing through during the event.
