Glo Makes Access To Calls, Data Easier With Flexi Recharge

Nigeria's preferred data network, Globacom, has introduced a new product that makes seamless access to calls and data easier.  The company said that the product called Glo Flexi Recharge, allows customers to use data and voice without having to buy a fixed data and voice bundle.

Announcing the new product in Lagos, Globacom explained that Flexi Recharge makes available to subscribers credit which they can use in a flexible way for calls and internet-related services. According to a statement from the company, “with Glo Flexi Recharge, subscribers will get data benefit by default. Subscribers do not need to worry about buying data plans. Once they are on Glo Flexi Recharge, they will be able to make calls, send SMS, browse, or use social media network platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram etc, just like subscribers who purchase data bundles. We have made data access very simple for our customers”.

To enjoy Glo Flexi, customers are requested to load their credit, using this format: *123*PIN#.

Are 2017 UTME admissions forms available for sale? The Board responds

The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board examination is one of the most important examinations in a Nigerian student's life.

There have been speculations and rumours that the Joint Admissions Matriculations Board (JAMB) forms are now available for sale.
Well, JAMB has spoken, and the answer is no.
Dr Fabian Benjamin, the JAMB’s Head of Media and Publicity, has more to say:
"I want the public to be patient. We are putting finishing touches to the arrangements for a hitch free outing."
The Dr was specifically concerned about those who might fall prey to fraudsters who might be selling fake forms or promising them ridiculous things.
On why the forms aren't available for sale yet, he said:
“We do not want a repeat of what had been happening before and during registration this year.
We need to ensure that prospective candidates do the right thing and get their results without problems.
So we want to appeal to prospective candidates to be patient as we will soon begin sale of the forms,’’
JAMB is one of the most popular examinations in Nigerian academia. Last year, the most sought after University for admission was the University of Illorin.

Some stats regarding the way people applied to different universities also revealed some interesting patterns, and perhaps, it might determine how people apply to universities this year.

Hip-Hop Act, Kanye West now a ‘course of study’ at Washington University

A new course at Washington University in St. Louis, U.S. will see students examine the world and life of superstar rapper, Kanye West.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 75 third-year students have registered for “Politics of Kanye West: Black Genius and Sonic Aesthetics”.
Jeffrey McCune, professor, says the course which began this week will focus on the rapper, producer and fashion designer.
He noted that it will offer a way for students to connect issues of politics, race, gender, sexuality and culture.
It’s not the first college course about West. Georgia State University offered one in 2015, and a 2014 course at the University of Missouri focused on West and Jay Z.

Music meets Fashion, Arts at 2016 Glo Caf Awards

The triumvirate of fashion, arts and music usually coalesce  to welcome a goal scored on the football pitch. As soon as a goal is scored the lucky team and its supporters explode in an orgy of wild celebration, singing, dancing, jumping and shouting to celebrate the goal. Players may dive, remove their shirts, dance, jump, suck their thumbs, mimic animals, punch the air or even cry to profoundly express their joy when they find the net. Memories of the unspeakable joy recorded when Nigeria's dream team defeated soccer powers Brazil and Argentina before winning the Olympic Gold medal in 1996 are still very fresh in people's memories.

All these exciting elements were manifestly and palpably present last Thursday at the gala night held to mark the 2016 GLO Caf Awards.  Indeed, there was no difference between the field of play and the hall of fame where the gala held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja. The feeling was real and the atmosphere was thick with different patterns of fashion, diverse genres of musical performances and variegated expressions of art in its purest and sublime form.

Colourfully attired patriots and soccer afficionados from all over Africa thronged the exquisite ICC, Abuja to celebrate the heroes and heroines of African football in the last twenty five years.
