Nigeria’s fastest growing and most innovative network, Etisalat Nigeria has continued to emphasize its commitment to Nigerian youth empowerment with its Cliqfest which held at the University of Uyo from August 15th – 16th. Packaged to identify with various students across the citadel of learning, the two-day event involved a motivational seminar by renowned speaker Niyi Adesanya, novelty matches to promote the Etisalat-FC Barcelona partnership and a musical concert with A-list Nigerian artistes and Mercy Chinwo, winner of Nigerian Idol Season 2.

In her welcome address, Vice-chancellor of University of Uyo, Professor (Mrs.) Comfort Memfin Ekpo said she was pleased with the Cliqfest line-up of activities. According to her, “My administration is focused on exposing the students of University of Uyo to programs such as Cliqfest as it challenges them to think outside the box and focus on developing their individual strengths and talents so as to effectively position themselves for life after school.”

The Student Union President, Izongwu Samson Denis, commenting on behalf of the students at the motivational seminar said “The students of University of Uyo are very peaceful and crave knowledge, they are aware of the challenges that graduates face in the Nigerian labour market and are eager to learn ways of overcoming them. We are grateful to Etisalat Nigeria for bringing this motivational seminar to our school”.
Elvis Daniel, Head Youth Segment Etisalat Nigeria speaking to the students explained the rationale behind Cliqfest stating that, ”Etisalat recognises the individual roles which the Nigerian youth will play in the future of Nigeria. This is why we have come to you with this motivational and entertaining series of events to prepare you to be game changers who will spur the development of Nigeria.”

The event which kicked off with a motivational seminar on Day 1, saw students walk away with Laptops, Blackberrys, dual SIM phones and came to a climax on Day 2 Wednesday August 16, 2012 with Okon Idopese, a 100 level student winning the coveted grand prize of a brand new car.

Cliqfest is powered by the Etisalat Easy Cliq product, and is specifically designed to educate and engage the Nigerian youth. It has so far covered 15 higher institutions, positively impacting the lives of students at each stop and is not relenting in its effort as it has even bigger plans for the future.
