The Authorities of the Federal polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, on Tuesday
expelled 26 students of the Institution and
rusticated 22 others for one academic session.
This information was contained in
a statement by its Registrar, Mr. Matthew Aligbe, in Owerri.
Aligbe said the students were
found guilty of examination misconduct during the First Semester of 2012/2013
academic session by the disciplinary panel, set up by the school authorities.
He explained that 54 students
appeared before the disciplinary panel, one of the students was asked to retake
some courses while five students were exonerated from any misconduct after
thorough investigations.
The registrar said the
polytechnic would not in any way compromise its high academic standard, adding
that the students who displayed acts of misconduct would not be tolerated.
Aligbe urged the management of
other tertiary institutions as well as members of the public to take note of
the details of the affected students posted in the school’s website.
