Deploys police, LASTMA, others for securiy
The Lagos State government yesterday said plans
had been concluded to host this year’s edition of the Lagos Street carnival
scheduled to hold on December 3 at Oba Akran Avenue in Ikeja.
Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on
Tourism, Arts and Culture, Adebimpe Akinsola, said the venue of the carnival
would be shut down but adequate preparations had been made for alternative
routes to mitigate the impact of the road closure on motorists and residents.
The carnival, which started last year, is designed to celebrate
the multi-cultural nature of Lagosians and reposition the state as a formidable
cultural destination.
Akinsola assured Lagosians of tight security and encouraged more
people to participate in the carnival. She said the line-up of artistes include
Olamide, Lil Kesh, Queen Salawa Abeni, Malaika, Tope Sax and others.
