Patience, consistency and hard work surely pay. These are the lots of Taiwo  Saidat Amusa a final year student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Lautech), Oyo State, who was recently crowned Miss Motor and who will be hoisting high the flag of Nigeria at the 2012 edition of Miss Motor International In Italy, next month, September 6. She is currently seeking for the support of Nigerians by voting and way of sponsorship.

Taiwo says she has all it takes to win this competition having garner experiences from previous competitions from Miss Lautech to Miss University, Glo Rock N Rule concert amongst others. Narrating how she started, Taiwo said, her passion started when she was ten years old but her parents discouraged her then on the ground that she must get educated first. Her first trial however took off on the run way in 2005 when she flag off her modeling career.
She stopped in 2007 when she got admission into Lautech to study Computer Science and Engineering. She used her first two years to consolidate and lay a good foundation for her studies.
She however resumed in her third year, “there was an open opportunity to contest for miss Lautech 2010, I went for the competition and emerged the winner’’ this gave her another opportunity to represent  her school in Miss University which took place in Benue state where all the contestants representing other universities and herself were hosted by the first lady.
Having won that competition gave her the courage to continue, believing that the sky is her limit; hence nothing can hold her back. In 2011 Taiwo took part in Glo Rock N Rule concert and she was picked both at the Ilorin and Ibadan auditions where she rapped and danced respectively.

At this competition Taiwo got another kind of experience, “this gave me great confidence since I was on stage facing thousands of people” she said. Taiwo who now aimed for the skies said she continued with the beauty competition along with her modeling career.
She went for Miss Olokun and was part of the first eight. In November 2011, she again attempted Miss Ikorodu Oga  and was crown as the queen. In December, same year she went for Miss Sisi Eko.  Her three attempt at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria  Pageant have  not been successful, but fun because all the contest in respective of the outcome build her experiences she said “in Miss Global Nigeria I went through lot of screening, where our manners, altitude and all that were tested, I emerged as third runner up’’.
Speaking further she said with all these experiences I’ve gathered couple with that of the fashion shows in City People Akara  Fashion Show, Red Line, Needle Craft Fashion I know I can win Miss Motor International’’.  Answering question on how she became Nigerian representative she said, Miss Evenly Egbe her director for Miss Motors Nigeria send her pictures down to Italy and she was accepted.   Taiwo is begging Nigerians to vote for her on face book via Miss Motor International or log on to www. missmotorinternational.com
Taiwo says she is not going there alone but with all Nigerians. “I’m not just going alone, we are going together, just  as a strain of broom  can be easily broken,  a bunch cannot , I cannot do this alone without people’s support, so I want them to join hands to show love and care by voting massively for me’’ she pleads , “we are coming out together to stand out for Nigeria”.
“This is an opportunity for me to stand out as an international model that can encourage others’’, Taiwo strongly believes that the second Agbani Derego is coming out
Taiwo says after the competition, she will come back home to promote safety on wheels. She is also interested in encouraging and further creating awareness on the new traffic laws and signs created by the governor of Lagos State, Governor Babatunde Raji fashola. Taiwo strongly believes that there are things people don’t understand when they are on the road; hence pedestrian and motorist need to be educated further in order to prevent further death. She concluded by saying, “Anything that can recue anyone in this life is patience”.
Taiwo who is the first daughter from a family of five siblings comes from Imota Local Government Area from Lagos state.  She is related to the royal family as one of her uncle’s is the Oba of Odumola.
