(L-R): Ex-Internationals and former African Players of the Year Victor, Ikpeba and Kanu Nwankwo, former Super Eagles Coach, Christian Chukwu, Globacom’s Head of Operations, Mr. Bisi Koleosho, and former Captain of Super Eagles, Jay Jay Okocha, at the unveiling of a unique campaign to galvanise the Super Eagles to victory in Brazil, “Go Ahead Eagles” in Lagos on Monday.

....mobilizes nationwide support for Super Eagles’ World Cup drive
Globacom, Nigeria’s biggest sponsor of football, has launched a massive World Cup campaign tagged ‘Go Ahead, Eagles’ to mobilise support for the World Cup campaign of the country’s national team, the Super Eagles. The campaign has several components, including a series of inspirational songs, television commercials and Nigeria's first online reality show, which will enable Nigerians to follow and engage with the team real time throughout their drive for glory in Brazil.

Speaking during the official launch of the campaign in Lagos on Monday, Head of Operations, Globacom, Mr. Bisi Koleoso stated that the Go Ahead Eagles campaign will galvanise the support of millions of Nigerians toward ensuring that the Super Eagles not only excel in Brazil but also set the record of being the most successful African team at the World Cup by being the first national team in the continent to make the last four. “The Super Eagles MUST GO AHEAD,” he stated, adding that all the communication materials in support of the team will be released with the theme One Nigeria, One team, One Network. He therefore called on all football-loving Nigerians to rally behind the team like never before and join Globacom as the company unveils the most comprehensive support-base ever for the Super Eagles since Nigeria started participating at the World Cup.

In order to heighten excitement around the Super Eagles' campaign and stimulate football fans to experience the buzz, Globacom said Nigerians can download the Super Eagles Anthem as their caller tunes by sending, via sms, Tune 070033 to 7728. The caller tune costs N50 per download and is valid for 2 months.
The special songs for the Super Eagles include "Power to Win", rendered powerfully by MI and Flavour; "Remember Me" by Psquare and a medley of popular football songs by various Globacom ambassadors including Burna Boy, MI, Omawunmi, Waje, Sammy Oposo, Bez and Sani Denja.
The campaign also includes a series of energetic television commercials including Unstoppable which inspires the Eagles to conquer the World in Brazil, the Football Music Video featuring MI and Flavour, the Anthem and Football United. “We strongly believe that with the support of Nigerians, we shall meet our aim of bringing the country together to massively support the Super Eagles to victory in Brazil,” Koleoso stated further.

The Glo Online Reality Show will be built around the Super Eagles and will involve exclusive player interviews and behind-the-scene online coverage of the Super Eagles’ exploits before, during and after the mundial.

Mrs. Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, Country Manager, Google,  with whom Globacom is partnering to activate the online leg of the campaign, said the telecom company had leveraged the power of technology to mobilise support for the Super Eagles.
"We are going to do three things under this Glo campaign for the Super Eagles. There will be Google Plus Hangout where Nigerian football fans can interact with their stars. There will also be an opportunity for fans to send their pictures digitally to their Super Eagles stars to be autographed. The fans will also have the privilege of sending e-cards to the Super Eagles players with their goodwill messages to the players. With the Online Reality Show, Nigerians on the Glo network can regularly follow what is happening behind the scene, how the Eagles prepare for matches and the footages of the team in camp," she disclosed.
"Google is glad to be a part of this vision. We are happy to collaborate with Globacom to show what is possible through technology," she said.
Ex-international, Jay Jay Okocha expressed happiness at the grand support being extended to the Super Eagles by Globacom, adding that he wished his squad received as much support during their own World Cup Campaign.

He stated that with such support, the team would do very well at the Mundial.
