Charles
Nii Armah Jnr popularly known as Shatta Wale has been adjudged Artiste of the
Year at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which came off at the Accra
International Conference Centre Saturday night.
He beat Castro, Kwabena Kwabena,
Sonnie Badu, Sarkodie, Samini, and Guru to win the award. The controversial
musician, who did not attend the awards, also won Reggae/Dancehall Song Of The
Year, and the Vodafone Most Popular Song Of The Year for his song Dancehall
King.
According
to the grapevine, it was stated that Shatta Wale refused to show up for the
awards because of a rift over his performance fee for the awards night.
The
source said when the artiste was approached by the organizers to perform at the
awards, he charged them GHc70,000 as performance fee and several attempts to
beat down the price proved futile.
