The third edition of the face of Niger Delta
Cultural Pageant is taking shape by the day as Gold House Productions the organizers,
holds press briefing and thereafter concludes auditions in Benin, capital of
Edo state.
Before now, the auditions have been conducted
in Calabar for the zone comprising Abia, Akwa Ibom & Cross River states,
while the audition in Port Harcourt catered for Rivers, Bayelsa & Imo
states. The Benin auditions catered for contestants from Edo, Delta and Ondo
states.
In his address, Mr. Kelly Godwin Attah,
CEO of Gold House Productions said that the event is more than just a beauty
contest, but a gathering of the nine Niger Delta states that make up the Niger
Delta Development Commission – NDDC to celebrate their rich cultural heritage
under one roof. He also added that the winner of the contest will not just be
another decorated queen, but an ambassador for the region and a model for other
youths to emulate.
Also in attendance at the briefing was
Apostle Sam Eka, the Speacial Adviser to Governor Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State on
NDDC. He commended the Gold House team for the idea of the event and said the
Akwa Ibom State government is solidly behind it. Apostle Sam Eka also unveiled
and inspected the star prize which is a 2014 Kia Rio Saloon car.
The nine finalists will represent each of the
states at the grand finale on the 10th of October 2014 at the Ibom
Le’Meridian Hotels & Golf Resort.
