Absolut Vodka Sponsors Best New Act Award at MAMA 2015



For the second consecutive year, the No 1 premium vodka, Absolut is thrilled to announce its association with MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal as sponsors of the Best New Act Award category. The MAMAs celebrates African musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on youth culture throughout the year. It will once again take place on Saturday 18 July at the International Convention Centre, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
 
Absolut Vodka supported the Road to MAMA event which took place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. It paraded several artists and guests ranging from celebrities to entertainment buffs, business icons, media experts and members of the international community. The roll call of celebrities included D’Banj, Phyno, YemiAlade, Lil Kesh, Diamond, The MAVINS, Iyanya, Patoranking, M.I, Jimmy Jatts and DJ Exclusive to mention a few.

The ‘Best New Act Transformed by Absolut’ category of the MAMAs 2015 celebrates new talents and embraces the true essence of Absolut Vodka – innovation and creativity. Anna Joyce (Angola), CassperNyovest (South Africa), Duncan (South Africa), Patoranking (Nigeria) and Stonebwoy from Ghana are the five nominees selected for the Best New Act Award category.


Sola Oke, Marketing Director, Pernod Ricard Nigeria, said “We are proud to be part of a Pan-African music celebration such as the MAMAs and our partnership with the music platform will again allow us to connect with young consumers via the Africa is Absolut campaign. The MAMA platform gives Absolut Vodka the opportunity to further ingrain artists outside their localities to all of Sub-Saharan Africa.” 

The combination of music legend 2FACE (Nigeria), AKA (South Africa), Black Motion (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Toofan (Togo) are to perform at the MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal 2015 (MAMA).

Absolut Vodka is also running an in-store offer which will run in designated Shoprite, Spar and Game outlets across Lagos, Abuja, Warri and Port Harcourt from July 14th to 26th July as part of build-up activities to the awards this year. Loyal consumers will be rewarded with free mixers for every purchase of Absolut Vodka, gift items include Skull Candy Headphones, T-shirts, and Snapbacks.

To further enhance the partnership, Absolut just launched a new campaign themed ‘Africa is Absolut’ which is designed to recognize unique qualities and passions reflected in African artists.
