Gunmen kidnap DELSUTH neurologist, demand N15million ransom



"It is saddening that doctors who risk their lives to render humanitarian services to the public are gradually becoming endangered species."
Delta State Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, Dr. Obiabo Yahaya has been abducted.
It was disclosed that the kidnappers abducted consultant neurologist on Tuesday, December 29, and are now demanding N15million for his release.
President of the DELSUTH Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, Dr. Innocent Okocha confirmed the incident to Vanguard, adding that Yahaya was taken at about 8:30pm while trying to enter his compound at Amukpe, Sapele.
Okocha also confirmed that the kidnappers have made contact with the family and are now demanding ransom.
Dr. Okocha, while appealing for the release of the victim, stated that from information gathered, he was trailed home by his abductors who whisked him to an unknown destination.
He said: “Though the matter has been reported to the security operatives in the area, including the police, it is indeed saddening that doctors who risk their lives to render humanitarian services to the public are gradually becoming endangered species especially within Oghara and its environs.
