10 UNILAG Students Get N1m for Etisalat Merit Award
Ten students of the University of Lagos, UNILAG have received N100, 000 each from the Etisalat Merit Awards Scheme for 2015.
The students are Scale Abimbola Omotayo from Accounting department; Amuda Tope Victor and Dosunmu Abiodun Idris from Electrical / Electronic department; Bello Abdul-Wahab, Akeju Fatai Adekunle, Omitiran Demilade Micheal and Ifedayo Oluwadamilola Boluwatife from Computer Science department.
Speaking during the cheque presentation, the Manager, Corporate and Social Responsibility, Etisalat Nigeria, Mrs. Oyetola Oduyemi, admonished the awardees to keep working harder especially those who benefitted from the 2015 scheme while in 200 level because the 2016 edition will take place soon and that the competition is getting tougher by the day.
In his reaction, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Rahamon Bello, who was represented by the Dean, Student Affairs Division, Prof. Gabriel Babawale, thanked Etisalat Nigeria for maintaining their Corporate Social Responsibility in the sustainability of the scheme which is in its fourth year.
He then congratulated the beneficiaries who were found worthy of the honors in their various departments and faculties.
The VC further said that the N100, 000 given to each of the beneficiaries is meant for educational support and must be used judiciously.
