Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols gets Glo sponsorship again


National telecoms operator, Globacom, has once again emerged as a key sponsor ofthe annual Akwa Ibom Christmas Carols Festival which will hold on Saturday, December 17th 2016 at the Uyo Township Stadium.

The 2016 Christmas Carol Festival which will be telecast live on AIT, Channels TV, AKBC and DSTV is themed: “Let Our King Be Lifted High" and will feature multiple award-winning international gospel artiste, Don Moen, the PRM band from the United Kingdom, The Kayamba Africa Choral Ensemble and the Kenya Boys Choir.  
The event will also feature other Nigerian gospel artistes including Buchi, Elijah Oyelade, Julius Nglass, Steve Crown, Sammie Okposo, Esther Edoho, and Perfecta Ekpo. Other performers are the The Ibom Orchestra, The Ibom Brass Band and the Akwa Ibom State Government Choir and the renowned 10,000-man choir.


Globacom, the exclusive telecoms partner of the Carols Festival, revealed in a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos that the tremendous success recorded in the 2015, event which had award-winning international gospel artistes, informed its decision to sponsor the carol again.

“We fully identify with the Akwa Ibom Christmas Carol festival which has become one of the biggest crowd-pulling events of the Yuletide season. Our desire is to follow the passion of Nigerians, and connect them with their passion,” the statement read.
Mr Udom Emmanuel, the Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chief host of the event has commended Globacom for sponsoring the event once more.


It will be recalled that in 2012, the event made history and was cited in the Guinness Book of Records when it featured a 9,999-member choir which was  reputed to be the largest choir on the continent at that time.
