Enugu Residents Turn Up In Thousands For Glo Lafftafest

Residents of the coal city of Enugu and its environs last weekend turned out in their thousands to savour the ongoing nationwide comedy concert, Glo Laffta Fest, packaged by national telecommunications operator, Globacom.
It was a highly  exhilarating experience for guests who attended the show as established humour merchants and up and coming comedy acts put up spectacular performances  which left the audience reeling in bouts of laughter throughout the duration of the event.   The budding comedians who performed included MC Zino, the duo of Sam and Song, MC for God, MC Twin Parrot and MC Franchez.
It was a superlative delivery by MC for God who also stars in the popular Glo-sponsored TV series, Professor Johnbull. He was especially appreciated by the audience for dishing out original jokes and they responded with great applause.
Next to perform was the pair of Sam and Song whose huge social media following ensured they got rapturous welcome as they appeared  on stage.  The duo who perform by playing the roles of a preacher and an interpreter were rewarded with wild applause.
MC Twin Parrot also got huge ratings from the audience as he used the comparison between the burial rites in the Western World and the South Eastern part of Nigeria to deliver very humorous jokes.

The show proper was opened by Port Harcourt-based comedian, Arinze Baba, who had a great outing. Arinze had also distinguished himself in the Port Harcourt edition of the show.
The grand masters of comedy then took over the show. From Bash to Uganda's Salvador, Bovi, Gordons and Basketmouth, there was no dull moment as they all delivered   an unforgettable night of fun and laughter.
As was the case in previous editions, many Glo subscribers went home with gifts from Globacom. The lucky subscribers included those who arrived early to the event and dance competition winners in the male and female categories.
In the female category, Adaeze Ani and Caroline Iroakazi, both students, emerged joint winners while Johnson Precious, also a student, was the runner-up.
In the male category, Emmanuel Fly and Frank Raphael emerged winners and first runner-up respectively, while Clinton Joseph emerged second runner-up.
Nollywood stars, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK), Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, and Victor Osuagwu added more excitement to the event. KOK appeared on stage in full regal attire wearing a crown and holding an elephant tusk. The audience gave him a standing ovation. He thanked the people of Enugu where he was “born, bred and buttered”, even though he hails from Imo State.
The Enugu event was the third edition of the show which has already been held in Port Harcourt and Abuja.
Owerri is next in line to host the show this Sunday after which it will move to 23 other locations across the country. They include Awka, Ikeja, Ikorodu, FESTAC , Ajah, Asaba, Calabar, Enugu, Aba, Suleja, Kubwa, FCT, Ibadan, Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta, Ekpoma, Kaduna, Akure, Lokoja, and Anyigba.

To attend the Laffta Fest show, Glo subscribers are expected to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL and preferred location to short code 240; for example, “LOL Owerri” to 240.
