Seven iconic music stars performing in
Nigeria’s most popular
musical fiesta this year, the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour last Saturday treated
residents of the ancient city of Benin, Edo State Capital, to sublime
jollity imbued by inspirational music and alluring stage craft.
Massive crowd thronged the Best Western
Hotel, Etete, Benin City venue of the event and had to overflow into the
parking lot to savour the performance of each of the artistes as they took
turns to serenade attendees.
Africa’s finest female wheel-of-steel expert, DJ
Lambo welcomed guests with delightful popular danceable music to whet the
entertainment appetite of the crowd. The appearance of the duo of Mercy
Johnson-Okojie and Ebube Nwagbo, kick-started the show.
Mercy who is married to an Esan man acknowledged her in-laws in their local dialect.
The compeers ingeniously introduced the
two Nollywood legends, Patience Ozokwor, aka Mama G and Richard Mofe-Damijo,
RMD while the evening of complete fun began with dancing and singing
competitions.
Budding artistes resident in Benin city
namely 2Soul, Miyake, Waziri Jnr.,3.6, Viscular, Rasman Sugarman and Rand A
were given the opportunity to use the huge platform of Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour to showcase their talents.
The first big act of the night was Marvin Records pearl, Reekado Banks, and the Katapot creator turned up impressively as he performed his hit tracks like Katapot, Ada, Gbedu and Noni.
Next act to perform was the Megbele proponent, Omawumi who dazzled attendees while
Kiss Daniel took the show to higher grounds and performed some of his popular tunes like Mama, New King, Gobe and Woju.
Kiss Daniel yielded the stage to Runtown, who increased the temperature of the show with renditions of all his hit tracks including Walahi, Lagos to Kampala and Mad Over You. Runtown handed over to the Nabania star, Flavour, who gave the crowd a memorable night with his stage control and popular songs such as Sexy Rosey, Nwa Baby (Ashawo), Baby Uku and Ada Ada.
The excitement in the hall snowballed
when Phyno, the light skinned rapper, was announced as the next act with
attendees singing along with him. He
was about completing his hit track, ‘Fada Fada’ when his music soul
mate, Olamide, joined him on the stage to a boisterous reception. The crowd
surged forward as the King of the Streets turned the show to a big party.
Old Parade Ground, Abuja, is the next venue for the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Concert this Saturday. Glo subscribers wishing to attend the Abuja show are expected to recharge their lines with up to N2,000 credit and sms 'MUSIC ABUJA' to the short code 207.
