Singer Ebony Reigns has been killed
aged just 20 in a car accident. The Ghanaian dancehall/Afrobeat artist died
just one week before her 21st birthday in a horror crash in the Ashanti Region
of Ghana. According to local reports, Ebony – real name Priscilla
Opoku-Kwarteng – was driving to Accra following a trip to Sunyani with two
friends when the accident occurred in Mankronso. Ebony’s vehicle collided with
a bus which was heading in the opposite direction.
She was rushed to Bechem Government Hospital, where she died from her injuries. The two others in the car with her were also killed in the crash, while the driver of the bus is receiving treatment in hospital. Fans of Ebony, who would have turned 21 on 16 February, have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to the rising star.
Ebony was discovered by Bullet of Ruff n Smooth fame, and released her first single Dancefloor in 2015. She achieved huge success in Ghana with her song Poison, which topped charts in the country, and released her first full-length album, Bonyfied, in December 2017. Ebony was due to headline a show on Satuday 10th in Belgium.
