The humanitarian efforts that began in 2017 with French Montana
enlisting the Triplets Ghetto Kids for his “Unforgettable” video have come full circle, as a
Ugandan hospital that French's philanthropic efforts have helped is now
reportedly operating.
TMZ reports the
facility is “up and running” and “equipped to take care of 300,000 people.” TMZ didn’t name the specific facility, but Complex and Newsweek have previously reported French, Diddy, and The
Weeknd donated significant sums in coordination with the Mama Hope
Foundation to aid a Ugandan hospital equipped to care for 300,000 patients. Per
the Mama Hope Foundation website, the facility is named the Suubi Health
Clinic.
“Thanks to French Montana, The Weeknd, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and
Ciroc, construction on the new building started right away,” notes a report on Mamahope.org.
French Montana’s work with Suubi Health Clinic and Mama Hope
Foundation earned him the distinction of becoming hip-hop’s
first Global Citizen Ambassador. On the commercial side,
“Unforgettable” became French Montana’s first No. 1 single onBillboard’s “Hot
Rap Songs” chart. The Swae Lee-assisted track has since been streamed over 646
million times via YouTube while being certified
as five-times platinum by the RIAA.
Per Denis
Muwanguzi, who also worked with French, Diddy, and The Weeknd to help
raise funds for the Suubi Health Clinic, the facility expanded its patient
capacity from 56,000 to 300,000 in roughly one year.
