Year in, year
out, quite a barrage of new acts churn out beautiful releases hoping to score a
hit; many do strike the right chord from the first listen while others
disappear into thin air. One of the easy ways to making it in the music
industry is to identify a gap and make concerted efforts into filling that
vacant space, most music lovers subconsciously find themselves gravitating
towards a talent with a fresh sound, vibe and flavour.
This
description aptly describes emerging Fujipop singer Eritundemilade Oluwashola better known as Eri
Wonder, just like the ones before him, the likes of DammyKrane, Terry Apala
and Q dot. Eri Wonder effortlessly
blends Fuji music with hip hop, the depth of his talent and artistry is worthy
of putting him away from the trenches of the underground anytime soon.
Born and
brought up in the ever busy town of Mende
in Maryland, Lagos, Eri Wonder
started out in the Church, harmonized his sound while honing his skills by aligning
himself with local basement parties and shows within and outside his hood. The
self-acclaimed African Fuji Hip Hop
creator combines elements of the local Fuji with western flavour delivered in a
unique way thus making beautiful records that carry through as a fresh take on
Nigerian sound. It’s not surprising there is chemistry between him and top
rated Producers, the likes of Samklef,
Bblack to mention a few. With collaborations with Pasuma Wonder, Small Doctor, to mention a few. It’s crystal clear that the
artist is doing something worthy of royalty.
With the
rate at which his recent output “Baba
Mimo” is enjoying appreciable airplay and open love from fans, Eri Wonder
is gradually creating his own niche and sits atop with the crown fitting
perfectly on his head.
The visuals for
“Baba Mimo” was shot in the popular
city of Dubai by Tejuosho Pictures
alongside a couple of other projects yet to be released.
