NYSC DG says the management is still
working to ensure Federal Government increases corps members allowance.
Following the alleged increment in corps members
allowance which
the NYSC described as a rumour, the scheme has promised to prioritize the corps
members welfare.
The Director-General of the National
Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-General Suleiman Kazaure made the promise in
Ibadan on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
The DG said the NYSC management is working tirelessly to
ensure that the Federal Government increases the allowances of corps members.
He said, ''We are not unmindful of the cost of goods and services in the
country when placed side by side with the present allowance of the members
“We are not relenting as the scheme has made
representations to the government through relevant agencies,” a statement
issued in Ibadan by the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Ifeoma Anidobi, quoted
him as saying during a visit to the NYSC orientation camp at Iseyin''
NYSC bans corps members from travelling
without permission
Meanwhile, the management of the
National Youth Service Corps has warned and banned corps members from
travelling out
of their place of primary assignment and orientation camps without permission
from authorities.
Kazaure, warned the youths on Tuesday,
August 7, 2018, while addressing new corps members at Ekiti State Permanent
Orientation Camp.
Kazaure reportedly said he was on a
visit to educate corps members on dangers associated with playing with their
health and security.
While advising the corps members in
Ekiti, Kazaure asked the youths to join hands with him to avoid a repeat of the
tragic incident in which nine corps members drowned in Taraba state.
