MTN Unveils New Music Reality Show “Y’ello Star”


Leading ICT company, MTN recently announced the start of a new musical reality television show, ‘Y’ello Star, in their head offices at Falomo, Ikoyi.

The show seeks to groom musical talent by providing a lifetime opportunity to turn their dreams and aspirations into reality. Since 2006, through the MTNF/MUSON Scholarship Programme, MTN Nigeria has trained hundreds of young Nigerians in the art and business of music. Y’ello Star takes this further by bringing the process of creating the ultimate superstar to every Nigerian television screen.
Speaking at the reveal, Rahul De, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria stated. ”We know that there are a lot of talented people in Nigeria who need to tune up their musical careers. This platform will help launch them to musical heights. We have a wealth of experience in supporting Nigerian talent and are confident we can improve on our past successes,” he said.

Regional auditions are holding in Abuja, Enugu and Lagos. Finalists from the auditions will proceed to the ‘incubation hub’ in Lagos, where they will be coached by experts in the music industry in several areas as they aim for the top prize. The competition will run until June 2020. MTN Nigeria has been at the forefront of supporting events that celebrate the country’s rich arts and culture. MTN has created entertainment platforms such as Music+, MTN Y’ello Top 10 and the recently launched music-streaming platform, Music Time, in a bid to promote unbridled talent on the global stage.

Student Develops App To Make Campus Life Easier

A computer and robotic education student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Kingsley Ogbu has developed an application, Social Varsities app which he says helps his fellow students cope with campus life. The app which he developed in collaboration with his friend Bright Eloke is an all-purpose platform which gives Nigerian students opportunity to socialise while having access to other services that ease campus life.
With the app, students can find hostels around their various campuses, read relevant news about their school, faculties or departments as well as shop and sell personal items.The app also help them make friends and connect with school mates from and outside the school environment.

In deep appreciation of its socio-economic impact on young people and the continent, the African Union commission has reinstated its continuous support and commitment to the partnership with All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA at a strategic meeting held at the African Union headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia last week, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 after The 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
In attendance at the strategic Meeting for the advancement of creative industry in Africa and preparation for AFRIMA 2020 were Commissioner for Social Affairs, African Union Commission, Her Excellency, Amira Mohammed Elfadil; Minister of Information and Culture, Nigeria, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Director, Department of Social Affairs, AUC, Mme Cisse Mariama Mohamed; Head of Culture, AUC, Angela Martins; President/Executive Producer, AFRIMA, Mike Dada and Country Director-Designate, AFRIMA-Ethiopia, Eyob Alemayehu among others.
The Commissioner for Social Affairs in her remark expressed appreciation to the International Committee of AFRIMA for consistently striving towards achieving the shared objectives of an integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa through the platform of AFRIMA. She also thanked the Nigerian government for always giving support to the successful hosting of the AFRIMA pan-African initiative. ''The African Union will continue to support and partner AFRIMA on this journey of leveraging the platform of music, art and culture to engage young people as well as unite and promote Africa positively to the world" she concluded.

Young Nigerian Artist Appreciates Apostle Suleman's Charity Support


A young Nigerian artist, Frank Nwankwo, has sent his warm gratitude to famous preacher, Apostle Johnson Suleman, for assisting him with a cash gift to enrich his vocation last December.

The young man, who exhibited some of his artworks in a well-ordered manner inside a studio, announced on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, 26th of February 2020, that the Senior Pastor at Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) was the brain behind his new success.

The cleric had reportedly blessed the promising artist with an undisclosed huge amount of money.
