Academic activities stood still at the Yaba College of Technology and its neighbouring campuses on February 14, 2014 when Valentine turned
yellow as Acada Magazine stormed the
citadel of learning’s Sport Pavilion with ‘Acada
Love Fest 2014’, with supports from top companies such as MTN, StarTimes, Chicken Republic, Hi-Malt,
First Bank and Nescafe.
The event which kicked off at 3:30pm was a 4 hour of
un-interrupted music and breath-taking performances as rappers from Yaba College of Technology; University of
Lagos; Federal College of Education; St. Augustine University, University of
Lagos and Federal Technical Science College, all in Akoka-Lagos, engaged in a rap contest to determine whose campus got
the hottest rapper. Howbeit, RapTour;
a student of Yabatech emerged winner
of the contest and walked home with a StarTimes
decoder with one month classic bouquet subscription courtesy StarTimes and a Pressing Iron; while
others got lots of consolation prizes from MTN
and Chicken Republic.
Comedian cum Compeer Omini
formerly known as Headmaster, Teedos, Rubbertainer and MC Obems dazzled the
over 2000 students present to a rib
cracking comedy session before the main MC, Wale Adebayo popularly known as Sango joined them on the stage as
the event took a new turn when some hot and popular Naija artistes graced the
stage.

It is also worthy of note that guests were served snacks by Chicken Republic, cold Hi-Malt Choco-Twist
and Nescafe free of charge to quench
their thirst; having danced to the ecstatic
performances of the guest artistes and latest Naija hits dished by DJ Mono.
The event however ended at 7:30pm, as the students audience
filed out happily with a carrier pack each of either Acada LoveFest or @MTNNG
in hand, fully loaded with different gift items as souvenirs. The students also
echoed praises of the organizers and sponsors as the event was a hitch-free one.
To further emphasized the excitements of the students; Sapele, the Social Director, Students Union Government, Yaba College of
Technology added ‘I and my colleagues are excited because the event was
completely successful, it’s timely because of the season and an absolutely free
show with all of these to take home; Acada
Magazine therefore stands out as a youth friendly organization that are consistently
publishing, distributing and circulating their free bi-weekly magazine across Nigeria campuses in the last four years,
it’s a serious plus to us as students’.
