DA variation of reactions
have trailed the cries of National Youth Service Corps members who claimed to
have paid the now-compulsory N4060 fee for prospective corps members on-line
but have not gotten their call-up numbers via e-mail. The registration which approached its
deadline yesterday, October 12, 2014, has kicked up a lot of dust.
While some could be seen
celebrating, others wore long faces, as they cannot go to their orientation
camps without their call-up numbers.
The N4,060 was reportedly
meant to computerise the issuance of call-up letters to save prospective corps members the
stress of traveling to their various schools to collect same. The idea was
tagged “online registration of corps members”.
On that basis, the NYSC
authorities revealed that the payment was not mandatory for all corps member but for those wishing to
get their call-up online.
While congratulatory
messages of “Successfully Mobilized for Deployment” with the call-up number
were mailed to some, since October 5, 2014, others confessed that they have not
gotten theirs yet, despite having fulfilled all the conditions for the
pre-registration.
