BlackNBold Fashion House Awards 2014






BlackNBold Fashion House is gradually becoming an household name not only in Nigeria but abroad. The company staged the maiden edition of her awards; BlackNBold Awards in Ikeja yesterday 28th November 2014.
Awards were presented to Woman of the year, Young Designer of the Year and Fashion TV of the year.

In a chat with Mr Ademodi Marcus, the business manager of BlackNBold Fashion House, he said "We saw the need to appreciate and encourage individuals and brands that have made a positive impact to the Nigeria fashion industry, BlackNBold Awards will be an annual end of the year event to celebrate and acknowledge these individuals effort. We hope to have more categories next year. Woman of the Year--- Mrs. Sola Babatunde, CEO of OSC College of Fashion, now rated as the fastest growing fashion school in Nigeria.

Sola Babatunde is a US Department of State Alumni, who holds an advanced entrepreneurship training certificate from the Andreas Business School, Barry University, Miami, Florida. She is a Goldman Sachs Scholar. She started her career at Fate Foundation, working through all the departments and has partnered with several NGO's to provide fashion training scholarship to their beneficiaries. She is also an Alumni of Olabisi Onabanjo University where she studied Banking and Finance, she was also trained in pattern drafting and dress making at the Nobel Afrik Dress Making School. She is an executive at the Fashion Designer Association of Nigeria who was recently appointed as a WED Ambassador (Women Entrepreneurial Development) by the entrepreneurial development centre of the Pan Atlantic University  about two weeks ago. Sola Babatunde is also an annual sponsor of the Winasbet Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week. Through her fashion school, several top fashion designers in Nigeria have evolved.

Young Designer of the Year--- Vovwe Omoko

Vovwe Omoko is a 25 years old designer from Delta State. She graduated from Delta State University where she studies Fine and Applied arts.
She started fashion professionally in June 2014. Vovwe acquired her skills from the prestigious Osc College of Fashion.

Her first collection Chaste by Ovems was launched at the 2014 edition of Winasbet Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week, were she emerged as the Most Creative Designer amongst the over 30 young designers that participated. Shortly afterwards, Vovwe was ranked 2nd at the Top 12 Industry Newcomers in Nigeria by BlackNBold Fashion House, a release that went viral.
In October 2014, Vovwe won the David Wej Half a million Naira fashion competition. She is presently the wardrobe designer for Cool TV and Wazobia TV. She has styled OAP's such as Dj Freeze, Zoe, Nedu, Kayla, Lolo, Elenu, Dj Exclusive to mention a few.
Vovwe is currently working on her next collection "Luchi by Ovems".


This collection is inspired by working class ladies who love to look simple but elegant.

Fashion TV of the Year----Spice TV
Spice TV was launched in 2009 and founded by Mr Tajudeen Adepetu, owners of ONTV and Soundcity. Starting as a program on TV to becoming one of the biggest fashion oriented television stations in Nigeria.
Spice TV has been very consistent since inception. A station that has dedicated its time and resources to promoting established fashion brands as well as emerging ones in Africa.
Spice TV has covered several fashion events within and outside the country and was also the official TV partner of the Winasbet Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week.
