Benin City
was set aglow on August 30 as some of Nigeria’s best comedians strut their
stuff at the Best Western Hotel, GRA Benin City, venue of the popular comedy
show organized by Globacom, Laffta Fest.
Talented
humour merchants, Gordons, I go Save, Sim Card, Osama, Youngest Landlord, D
Don, MC Casino, and Funny Bones as well as popular musicians MI and Burna Boy
unleashed their wit and talent on an excited audience gathered from all walks
of life for an evening of fun.
It was the
first in a series of Laffta Fest shows planned to hold across Nigeria in the
next few weeks.
In his
opening remarks, Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Mid-West, Augustus
Offor, thanked the people of Benin for their faith in Glo, and underscored the
importance of the primal city to the history of Nigeria.
“Globacom is
delighted to have the first in the series of the show in Benin City. Indeed,
Benin plays an important role in the history of Nigeria, that is why we are
bringing the Glo Laffta Fest, Slide ‘n’Bounce music
concert and Dance withPeter reality TV show to you
here in Benin City,” said Offor.
The Benin
Edition of Glo Laffta Fest also featured up and coming performers
such as Warri Boy, R&A, Solution, Vizula, Zeek and Elvis Joe.
Some of the
high points of the night was the performance of accomplished rapper, MI, whose
entry on stage sent the auditorium wild with excitement. He performed his hit
songs including OneNaira, a duet with Waje.
Bovi was
also in his best elements. He engaged the audience with interactive and
rib-cracking jokes. Members of the audience who were selected to take part in
jokes competition went home with mouth-watering gifts.
Some of the
members of the audience expressed satisfaction with the show. Stanley Agbokume,
a student of the Benson Idahosa University said: “I was one of the first set of
guests who arrived the venue. I’ve been looking forward to attending this show
and I must tell you, I really had fun. The jokes were quite entertaining and I
just wished it will never end.”
The next
edition of the show is expected to hold at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria
Island, Lagos on Sunday, September 6, 2015, and in Abeokuta, the rock city on
Sunday, September 13.
The show
will also hold at the Eagle Club, Surulere, Lagos on September 20; Port
Harcourt, September 27; Ikeja, Lagos on October 3;
Ibadan, October 11; Ikorodu, Lagos, October 18; Egbeda,
Lagos, October 25; Abuja, November 1 and Ijebu
Ode, November 8.
Subscribers
who wish to attend the show in any of the cities can do so by using up to
N3,000 and sending ‘LOL’ and preferred location of the show to “33001”. For
example, ‘LOL Victoria Island” to 33001.
