There were very little surprises at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards on Saturday night as EL, Bisa Kdei and Sarkodie were the biggest on the night. Rapper and producer EL swept 5 awards with his works including the big one, of The Year. He also won Producer of the Year, Afropop Song of The Year.
Rapper E.L was the biggest winner on the night of the awards walking home with five awards including the most prestigious award of VGMAs, Artiste Of The Year, Hip Hop/Hiplife Artist of the Year, and his for ‘Shelele’, directed by Gyo Gyimah (Phamous Philms) won Best Video.
Bisa Kdei also bagged 4 awards for himself including Most Popular Song, Best , Best Highlife Song and Best Highlife Artiste. Sarkodie also picked up 3 nods including Rapper of the Year, Hiphop Song of the year and Record of the Year.
Other multiple award winners on the night included Kofi Kinaata winning Best New Artisteand Songwriter of the Year. VVIP also won Best Group and Best Collaboration of The Year. While Stonebwoy cleared the Dancehall/Reggae Song of the year and Dancehall/Reggae Artist of the year.
The categories were split between SP Kofi Sarpong Gospel Artisteof the year and Omane Acheampong who won Gospel Song Of The Year.
Nigeria’s Wizkid won Best African Act. He also performed on the night. There were also exciting performances from Sarkodie, EL, Joe Mettle, Bisa Kdei, Efya, Kofi Kinaata and Stonebwoy. The VGMA Unsung winner, Adomaa also had the opportunity to perform on the night.
