The Internet has become a treasure trove of many things. With a cursory search one can discovery everything from the beautiful, creative and the humorous, to the vile, disturbing and even the hurtful. And while it appears many were dumbfounded Tuesday (August 2) at Instagram’s move to create Snapchat like stories, a 10 year old motivational speaker offered an insightful perspective on what truly matters in life.
In a
black-and-white video that’s making the rounds online, Nyeeam Hudson known on
Instagram as King Nahh, recounts a situation in which he was teased for wearing
FILA sneakers to the park as opposed to the more popular shoes kids his age
wears. Instead of cowering to the taunts of the other kids, Nyeem delivered a
powerful message that many online have said some adults have yet to adopt.
“So I told the kid, it’s not
about what I have on my feet, it’s about what I have inside my head,” the
Orange NJ 10-year-old said. “No matter what I’m wearing, what I have on it’s
about my information, the knowledgable things in life. These sneakers are not
even going to fit you 20 years from now.”
The video racked up nearly
17,000 views from his own Instagram page before the rest of the Internet got a
hold of Nyeeam’s wise words. Before ending the video, Nyeeam ask’s parents to
raise children who realize their worth isn’t in the clothes they wear.
King Nahh is wise beyond his years.
Imagine if more of us thought like him and didn’t care about material things
and cared more about the knowledge and power that’s inside of them.
Just remember, you don’t have to be
10 years old or even 100 years old to have knowledge and wisdom. What knowledge
do you have that you can share with others? Let us know in the comments below.
