Africa’s funniest comics rock Port Harcourt

L-R: Kanayo O. Kanayo, Ace Nollywood actor, Kenneth Hall, Channel and Market Director, Globacom, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Nollywood Legend and Charles Jenarius, Regional Director (W/A), Marketing Communications, Globacom at Glo Laffta Fest in Port Harcourt on Easter Sunday.

Basketmouth, Bovi, Gordons, Salvador from Uganda, Acapella and Bash pulled down the roof over the oil-rich city of Port Harcourt on Easter Sunday at Globacom’s trademark comedy bash, Laffta Fest,  that is currently going around the country.

This edition of the show will be remembered for a long time to come as these grandmasters of comedy held Port Harcourt residents spellbound for six hours at the ultramodern event centre, Aztech Arcum, Stadium Road, Port Harcourt.

The show organised by the grandmasters of data also featured home-grown talent, Arinze Baba who went beyond expectation to rip the hall apart with creative narratives and punch lines.

Arinze Baba exited the scene amidst a groundswell of guffaws, cheers and applause from the audience most of whom were on their feet.

The more established comedians, Acapella and Bash sustained the tempo, while the masters, Basketmouth, Bovi, Gordons and Salvador from Uganda, showed clearly that they were the reference points in the continent’s entertainment industry.

Globacom also made room for budding comedians on the stage with the likes of GSN and K.O. Baba who showed that they had a place in the future of standup comedy. Nollywood legend, Richard Mofe-Damijo, ace actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, accomplished comedian, Victor Osuagwu and the goddess of Nollywood, Patience Ozokwor brightened the night with their presence.

Members of the audience also had opportunity to participate in a dancing competition that produced three winners each in the male and female categories. The winners went home with Glo-branded gift packs.

The Glo Laffta Fest is scheduled to hold in 26 other cities including Awka, Ikeja, Ikorodu, FESTAC , Ajah, Owerri; Asaba; Calabar; Enugu; Aba; Suleja, Kubwa, FCT, Ibadan; Ijebu Ode; Abeokuta; Ekpoma; Kaduna; Akure; Lokoja; and Anyigba.
