It was excitement all the way at
Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday as 100 Nigerians emerged winners in
the first draw of Recharge and Win Big Promo (My Own Don Beta),
an empowerment promo packaged by national telecommunications company, Globacom.
The winners emerged in a
computerised live draw held openly at Oremeji Street, supervised by officials
of National Lottery Regulatory Commission and National Communication Commission
in the presence of artisans, traders and workers of the village. The winners
emerged at different stages of the draws handled by Baba Oja of
Computer Village, Mr Adeniyi Olasoji, Nollywood star, Patience Ozokwor, as
well as Iya Oja of Computer Village, Mrs Abisola Azeez amongst others.
A total of 100 prizes comprising of
10 Tricycles, 40 generators, 30 grinding mills and 20 industrial sewing
machines were won and winners will receive their prizes in the promo’s first
presentation ceremony at Ojuelegba, Lagos on Wednesday, 23rd October,
2019.
The event featured series of dramas especially
during the draws, when the winners were called by Hon. Desmond Elliot of
Lagos State House of Assembly to inform them that they had won in the
promo. The reaction of the winners elicited a lot of laughter. While Nike
Olayiwola from Iwaya shouted for joy when she heard the news that she won
grinding mill, Michael Stanley from Ikorodu who won a tricycle choose to remain
calm until the prize is delivered. Tricyle winner, Emeka Obo, who lives in
Iyana Ipaja was initially skeptical but Mama G stepped in to convince
him in Igbo language that the call was from Globacom and that he had indeed won
a prize in the promo. One of the winners of generator is Dike Emmanuel from
Okrika, Rivers State who expressed his happiness for being lucky to win.

public draws in the weeks ahead in different parts of the
