Promasidor Nigeria Limited has announced that the stage is now set for aspiring university students across the country to start submitting their entries for the 2014 Onga National Campus Cooking Competition.
Mr. Kachi Onubogu, Executive Director, Commercial, who made the announcement at a Press Briefing in Lagos on Friday, said one of the tested platforms Onga uses to engage its target audience is Onga National Campus Cooking Competition.
Represented by Mr. Festus Tettey, Head of Marketing, Mr. Onubogu said arrangements have been concluded by the management to receive entries from students for this year’s edition of the competition.
His words: “Onga brand employs a wide range of platforms in engaging our target audience. One of such tested platforms is the Onga National Campus Cooking Competition, which takes place in selected campuses of universities in Nigeria. It is an effective platform for interacting closely with our target group and engaging them in the art of cooking.”
Speaking on the modality of the competition, Mr. Abiodun Ayodeji, Category Manager, Food Enhancement and Beverage; disclosed that the competition will run between August and November, 2014.
According to him, the campus activation will hold in 14 campuses spread across different geo-political zones in the country.  Activation in each of those campuses, he stated, will be in phases as interested students will submit their entries in dedicated drop boxes placed within their faculties.

He said each entry will comprise an empty pouch of Onga Cubes, 5 empty wrappers of Onga Cube and 5 Onga powder sachets. According to him, aspiring students are expected to drop their entries in the Drop boxes that will be placed in their faculties three days before the event for collection of entries.
Mr. Adedeji said 10 contestants will be chosen to represent the faculties on each campus through a raffle draw; adding that the best from each campus will represent each participating university at the Grand Finale in Lagos.
The prizes to be won at the Campus contest are: Deep Freezer for the first position, with the second and third best winning Gas Burners.
The Category Manager said all winners from the 14 campuses will converge in Lagos for the Grand Finale to contest for a brand new Kia Rio vehicle.
Mr. Adedeji explained that the objective of the competition is to create a platform for actively engaging and challenging the target audience in the art of cooking, a skill which will remain with them throughout their life.
He promised: “we will give students across select campuses the opportunity to sharpen their culinary skills; enlighten the public on the wide variety of dishes enjoyed by different cultures across the country; and create an emotional bond between our target audience and the Onga brand through active engagement and one-on-one interaction.”
