Buhari Urged To End Discrimination Between HND and BSC Holders
Nigerian president, Mohammadu Buhari has been urged to bridge the divide between University and Polytechnic graduates in the country.
This statement was made by the chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society and a senior lecturer in the department of Computer Science, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Dr. Bukola Onashoga, during 7th edition of the annual Information and Technology Development Programme which took place at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, in Yewa South area of Ogun state.
According to her, “the government should bridge the gap between the industry and the Academia, because the best thing is that the students should be taken round the shores of what is happening in the professional world and the IT professionals too should come around the universities to also put the students through what is happening in their own end”.
“Those who are succeeding in the IT world today succeeded as a result of their practical presentations of what they have learnt. If you are either a BSC or HND holder and you are unable to display in practical what you have learnt in school, then it is nothing, forget about the qualification either BSC or HND on this field is not about qualification, it is all about what you can do practically”.
“So I want to enjoin the government to pass a law whereby professionals should be part of those that will be teaching in schools”.
